Building Power from the Ground Up
As Brazil prepares to host COP30, VIVAT Brazil takes bold, grassroots-driven action. Our focus isn’t just the main event—the people, processes, and power-building happen before it.
We’re investing in a wide-reaching awareness campaign, activating VIVAT members nationwide in training, mobilization, advocacy, and coordination. We emphasize Pre-COP30 events and parallel gatherings that shape the conversation long before the official summit begins.
Local Actions, Global Resonance
Our work spans local, regional, national, and international levels—always with a global perspective. We’ve built strong partnerships with religious congregations, NGOs, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), the Conference of Religious of Brazil, and educational institutions.
Here’s what that looks like on the ground:
- Roraima: VIVAT members work closely with Indigenous Peoples, defending their territories, raising awareness, and mobilizing communities around COP30 issues. The message is urgent: “Tomorrow may be too late!”
- São Paulo and Paraná: We’re delivering training on Integral Ecology Missions and supporting communities in spreading that knowledge through communication and advocacy.
- National Coordination: In collaboration with CNBB’s Sociotransformation and Ecology & Mining Commissions—and over 100 other organizations—we’re organizing five regional Pre-COPs to mobilize and train thousands of people. These leaders will return to their communities as multipliers of knowledge and change.
On the Road to COP30
VIVAT Brazil is playing a key role in the People’s Summit, joining over 400 national and international organizations. Together, we’re pushing a bold, justice-centered agenda that defends the Amazon and all vital biomes. Our commitments are clear: socio-environmental justice, anti-patriarchy, anti-capitalism, anti-colonialism, anti-racism, and human rights.
