On June 25, 2026, the VIVAT International Board of Trustees met at the MCCJ Generalate in Rome. The meeting brought several important updates, including the welcoming of new members, new appointments, and upcoming leadership transitions.
The Board is pleased to welcome the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame as a new member of VIVAT International.
The Board also appointed Sr. Elena Balatti, CMS, as VIVAT’s Contact Person to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya. The Board expresses its sincere gratitude to Fr. Iyan Daquin, OMI, for his pioneering ministry as VIVAT Contact Person at UNEP from 2023 to 2026.
In New York, Fr. Paul Rahmat, SVD, has completed his tenure as a member of the VIVAT Team. Fr. Roy Thomas, SVD, will succeed him as the SVD representative on the team. We wish Fr. Roy a fruitful ministry as he strengthens networking and collaboration among VIVAT members. We also hope that Fr. Paul will draw on his experience in advocacy at the United Nations to further strengthen his commitment to advocating for grassroots communities in Indonesia.
Leadership Transitions in January 2027
Several leadership changes will take effect in January 2027.
Fr. Anselmo Ricardo Ribeiro, SVD, will become President of VIVAT International as Sr. Miriam Altenhofen, SSpS, completes her term as President.
Fr. Jean Herick Jasmin, OMI, has been appointed to the VIVAT Team in New York, succeeding Sr. Marides Santos, SSpS.
Fr. Richard Quadros, SVD, will become the next Executive Secretary of VIVAT International. Sr. Gretta Fernandes, SSpS, will complete her service as Executive Secretary at the end of January 2027.
VIVAT International expresses its gratitude to all those completing their terms of service and warmly welcomes those taking on new responsibilities. May these transitions strengthen VIVAT’s mission of advocacy, collaboration, and service to communities at the grassroots and within the United Nations.
