India: The Eco-Conscious Mission of the Adorers

Jessie D’ Souza ASC

The Adorers of the Blood of Christ in India have embarked on a mission to contribute to the conservation of Mother Earth through a series of deliberate and impactful initiatives. One primary strategy involves establishing eco-clubs in schools to foster awareness among students and their families.

Water Conservation and Tree Preservation

Students and teachers actively participate in innovative water-saving measures and tree-preservation efforts. Herbal and medicinal plants are cultivated both on school premises and at home. Additionally, the community cleans surroundings, places clay pots of water for birds, and organizes rallies to promote the urgent need for environmental conservation.

Waste Management

A comprehensive waste management system is in place, with biowaste being utilized as manure. Vegetable cultivation is encouraged, and dry and wet wastes are separated routinely. Dry leaves are collected in a dedicated pit to prepare nutrient-rich manure, showcasing the commitment to sustainable waste disposal.

Children’s Parliament and Awareness Classes

The initiative involves the active participation of students through the Children’s Parliament, conducting awareness classes across different grades. These classes serve as a platform to educate fellow students on environmental issues and the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices.

Wealth Out of Waste

The concept of “Wealth out of Waste” is promoted, encouraging creative ways to repurpose and reuse materials. This initiative reduces waste and fosters a culture of resourcefulness and creativity among students.

The Adorers of the Blood of Christ’s eco-friendly initiatives in India are positively impacting the community by instilling a sense of responsibility towards the environment. The organization actively contributes to the global effort to save our planet through education, practical initiatives, and community engagement.
